What is "Carnacoo"?
"Carnacoo" (the Camp by the River) is situated on Paper Beach Rd, on the West Tamar.

Facilities include: Large bunk-house with 30 bunks. (Can divide into 16 + 14 for boy/girl) + separate Leaders/adult room sleeps two.
Small bunk-house sleeps 8 (+ room for an extra airbed if required).
Total sleeping capacity = 40.

Male and female toilets and showers (with wheelchair access).

Main building houses the hall, kitchen & dining rooms:
Large kitchen is fully equipped for 40 people.   Dining hall adjacent to kitchen.   Large main Hall, with open fireplace.

Plenty of grassed areas for outdoor activities and Tent camping.

Directions to Carnacoo:   From Launceston, travel north on West Tamar Highway toward Exeter, just before entering Exeter, turn right & travel through Blackwall & Gravelly Beach for 5.7 km then turn right to Paper Beach.   (There is a “Carnacoo” road sign at this junction but it is easy to miss).   1.25km along Paper Beach Road is a driveway on the left hand side to Carnacoo.
What is Scout Island?
Scout Island is situated at Corra Lynn.   Follow Blessington Rd from St Leonards.

Facilities include: Ample grounds for tent sites. Suits large events.
This is a camping ground, not a holiday resort. There are long-drop toilets and washing water on tap but not drinking water.  
Fire pots are allowed unless there is a total fire ban / permit period. Cooking fires on the ground are no longer permitted, but one campfire for the main night’s entertainment may be allowed.

There is limited vehicle access onto the Island, usually 4WD's, and only when water level is low.   Pedestrian access via foot bridge.

Directions to Scout Island, Corra Lynn:   Corra Lynn is situated approximately 4.5km south-east of St Leonards.   There is a single lane bridge at the bottom of the hill; immediately after the bridge on the right-hand side is a dirt road which leads to Scout Island.   The gate to this road is usually closed, so please close it behind you.   There are other gates along the dirt road; if they are closed, please close them behind you and respect that this is private property and there may be sheep in the area.   There is ample parking and a foot bridge across to the island.   Vehicles can access the island, but only with authority of the Leader-in-Charge.

Harry Abbott Scout Centre is at the corner of Arthur St and St Georges Square (off High St), East Launceston.

What is "Carr Villa"?
"Carr Villa" is a cabin situated on Ben Lomond mountain, and is maintained by the Rovers (NARC).

Facilities include: Two Bunk Rooms, Lounge with open fire,
Kitchen / dining.
One outside long-drop toilet.
Snow (during season).

It is within the Ben Lomond National Park, therefore Nat.Pk. entry fees may apply.   Click the link to the left for more information on Nat.Pk entry fees.
